Lord Ariyanathaswamy Temple is historical temple dedicated to Lord Shiva lies in Harikesavanallur,(2km from Viravanallur).Here the Goddess is Periyanayagi (Pragannayagi).There are two Shiva Lingas in this temple. Ariyanathar and Kuberanathar (Lord Shiva worshipped by Kubera, the God of Wealth). This is the only ancient temple which has a separate shrine for Kubera.

Lord Dhakshinamoorthy in this temple is one of the five guru temples. The other four are in Thiruvidaimaruthur, Attalanallur, Thenthirubhuvanam, Idaikkaal. In our temple, Lord Dhakshinamoorthy poses like blessing his devotee with his left hand and right hand with a small sign in it.The entrance has a big mandapam, followed by Bali peedam, kodi maram(the flagstaff), shrine of Lord Nandi , crossing that brings you to the wide gangway for temple car and the three inner praharams.
In outer parikrama the shrines are are Lord Kubera the God of wealth,Jyeshta devi, Lord Bairavar, Mukkuruni Vinayagar( similar to Madurai Meenakshi Temple) and the navagrahas.Lord jeshtadevi in this temple is believed to cure the maanthi (sevvaai thosham). Recently, hundreds of families visited our temple to do the respective poojas. Ambal, lies in the 3rd praharam which seems to be a separate temple. The temple pond have to be cleaned to bring it back to the lovely views of its early days.
Manivaasaga perumaan’s mandapam which is used to celebrate functions also has to be reconstructed.Temple’s kumbhabishegam was last held in Revathi natchathram. A great astrologist said that revathi Nakshatra devotees can get a good time by involving in this time’s kumbhabishegam (renovation).Temple’s sthala virusham- Nelli maram (Amla Tree ) is located behind the shiva shrine.
